Jouhar was a bit of an eccentric, of that there can be no doubt, but he was also considered by many of his peers to be a photographic genius and a born artist. He brought his inimitable ideas and style to many of his pictures. Towards the end of his life, he spent more time in his studio and created an extensive set of self-portraits, using all kinds of props and often making use of double and occasionally triple exposure techniques, and other manipulations. Remember, these photos are from the early 1960’s – there was no such thing as Photoshop in those days !!
